Biography

Born 1978 in Geneva, lives in Zürich, Switzerland

Vanessa Billy’s sculptural practice explores ecological issues, cycles of energy, dystopian visions and transformative material processes. Employing a wide range of both organic and synthetic materials as well as industrial waste products, including feathers, flax, silicone, bio-resin, water, used motor oil, electric cables, metals and glass; she draws parallels between physical and mental constructs in the context of our relationship with the environment.
